SUNDAY, 12 SEPTEMBER 2004 - THE FIRST DAY UNDER 100

The high temperature today was 95 degrees F.  This was the first day the high temperature did not exceed 100 degrees F probably since May.  This is a good thing, we are finally feeling like there is an end in sight to this tremendous heat.  We actually had a friendly pool going here amongst the docs and anesthetists to predict the day it would finally "break" 100.  Our general surgeon guessed it right on the nose.  My pick was the 15th, so I was pretty close.  Everyone else guessed much later.  We are all glad that the winning date came so quickly.  I feel sorry for our comrades who are further South that probably have a few more weeks before they see a high under 100.

The NFL kicks off today, which is improving people's spirits.  Fall has always been one of my favorite times of the year because of football.  It will be a bit challenging following the games because the early games start at 2100 (9 pm) our time and the second games therefore start around midnight.  The Eagles play the afternoon game today, so I will have a late night - they better win!
